There are many big challenges in Human Resources – succession planning, compliance, learning & development and onboarding. My personal biggest challenge is motivating and retaining my best performers. The problem is, it’s not always clear who the best performers are. We have many hidden gems in our company but no real way of identifying who they are or how to retain them.

We have two separate processes – an annual performance review and succession planning and promotions. There isn’t a way to easily link these two together though. For example, I have no idea what our customers think about our team. Sometimes our line managers don’t really have the experience or training to identify and develop stars of the future. All of this information is stuck in someone’s head or in an Excel spreadsheet somewhere.
